Ik wil nu graag aan jullie kwijt, hoe wij Hua Hin met jullie goede zorgen ervaren hebben en wat wij de highlights vonden

Zoals:
Je komt moe aan op Bangkok en wie staat er dan, Boon met de typisch Thaise gastvrijheid en behulpzaamheid die we in Nederland absoluut vergeten zijn. Een doezelig autorit met een fijne en opkikkerende stop en dan 17:30 Tira Tira.
Dan volgt een half Europees/half Thaise begroeting met Pannida, ze overrompelt je, maar stelt je meteen op je gemak.
Na het zien van het appartement, het terras en zwembad en tevens het meer dan welkom begroetingspakket kun je uitzakken en slapen, met de belofte dat Pannida de volgende morgen komt om je te helpen bij de wensen, die je hebt voor je verblijf. En zeker maakt ze die waar, buiten ontvangst in haar eigen huis, was ze een juweel bij het zoeken naar goede massage, kleermaker en uit eten gaan. We werden verwend.
Het appartement, geweldig, de smaakvolle inrichting, het terras, het zwembad, ik heb 15 v/v baantjes gered de laatste dag, de rust en, wat wij fijn vonden bij die warmte, de altijd aanwezige wind en, dat het terras 's middags in de schaduw lag.
Voor ons was het heel fijn om via de beschikbare internetverbinding snel kontakt te hebben, zowel met jullie als prive.
Het werkte uitstekend.
Ook de properheid van de Thai werd weer duidelijk door Fon, die voor alles perfect zorgde, tot zij het appartement oke vond.
Het meest charmante en wat een goed gevoel gaf, was dat zowel Pannida, Fon, mijn masseuse en de kleermaker, elkaar goed kenden, dat gaf een goed gevoel.
Na 2 dagen was het alsof we gewoon thuis leefden, maar dan in een ander land.
Dan Hua Hin.
Tira Tira ligt dichtbij het centrum van de stad Hua Hin (later blijkt het voor ons een echt Thais stadje met weinig toeristische aanpassingen), dat ons bijzonder aanspreekt in zijn dagelijkse aktiviteiten. Supermarkten waren geweldig met de "scoot".
Niets leukers dan 's morgens ontbijten, veel op eigen terras, of ergens in het stadje, langzaam scootmobielen (geen enkel probleem op de wegen en toegang), lopen, en veel rondkijken, dan puzzelen, lezen, zwemmen bij Tira Tira. "s Avonds naar een van de vele zeepier restaurantjes , meestal na een bezoek aan de kleine barretjes of markt en je bent binnen 5 dagen bekend bij de lokale bevolking en raakt aan de praat. Geweldig
We hebben dan verder ook niets ondernomen, maar ook niet het gevoel gehad dat we iets gemist hebben in Thailand.
De terugreis zoals we al gewend waren, perfect geregeld, ook op de luchthaven waar we een soort prive begeleider kregen tot ons vliegtuig vertrok.
Het was wederom een geweldige ervaring en absoluut aan te raden voor mensen met weinig reiservaring naar verre landen, omdat via jullie alles goed geregeld is of geregeld kan worden. Jullie zijn een aparte bemiddelaar voor deze vakanties.
We zijn blij dat jullie er zijn.

We hopen dat jullie gezondheid en enthousiasme voor deze aktiviteiten zo blijft, en dat we in de toekomst weer van jullie service aanbod kunnen genieten.

Red shirts protest and holiday in Hua Hin

Red shirts protests; Lets talk about this. What are the consequences for tourists who want travel to Thailand? Well to be honest, don't worry. When you arrive at the airport Suvarnabhumi and travel instantly to Hua Hin you will not notice the protests and you are not in danger.
However to be on the safe side register yourself at your embassy. The Dutch embassy can warn you through SMS whenever the situation gets out of hand. Here is their website.

Wheelchair accessible restrooms in Hua Hin, Thailand

Hello Everyone,

My wife and I have a new hobby. Making pictures of wheelchair accessible restrooms in and around Hua Hin, near markets, at places of interest or in shopping malls. But what to do with it? We have published these pictures on Google maps .
And we have made an Album with description and location where to find these restrooms.
So now everyone who visits Hua Hin and uses a wheelchair can find an accessible toilet.

Wheelchair Taxi Thailand

This is what we mean. Real wheelchair accessible transport. A songtheaw and a wheelchair user accessing from behind with ramps. The movie was taken in front of our wheelchair accessible apartment in Hua Hin, Thailand. A songtheaw is an adjusted pick up truck during daytime in use as local public transport, but also available for private trips and tours. Accessible Bangkok

WOW. We have been to Bangkok two times and twice we were amazed about the accessibility of the Bangkok streets and public transport.
We've travelled from Hua Hin to Bangkok in an accessible Toyota van. In Bangkok we've travelled with public transport, BTS/skytrain and MRT/underground.
The first time we've stayed in China Town and the second time in Silom. We've visited the markets in Chinatown, Lumphini Park, Suan Lum Night Bazaar, Bangkok Ocean World, a Thai Ramakien puppet and dinner show, A Thai classical dance and dinner show, Patpong Red Light District with market, Chatuchak weekend market and even a themepark. Absolutely great.
Together with the experiences of previous visits to Bangkok we now know where to go, where to stay and what to do when you are in a wheelchair. Just contact us when you are interested.

Bangkok in a Wheelchair

Thai Childrens day

Friday 8 January 2010 it was childrens day in Thailand. It is like mothers day but this day is more important to the Thai. During this day children play the whole day at school. The day afterwards a lot of government buildings are open en children can look in the offices of and talk to officials. This is the learning part I expect.

Another part of the day is where parents and children go to a place where they can enjoy themselves. A lot of them went to Plearnwan in Hua Hin, a temporary building at the outside and Thai style shops and food stalls at the inside.
By accident we went there on this day because we have heard there were a lot of Thai food stalls. And it would be wheelchair accessible. And that was the main reason for us. Check it out and you won't be disappointed.

This time it was very busy because of childrens day. I think it will be less crowdy during a week day or even in the weekend.
We had a look around, had a soft drink and some Thai snacks like satay and Thai pancake with sugar.

We can recommend you to have a look and a bite. Have fun.

Shopping in Hua Hin

Yesterday I have started a healthy habit; swimming of at least 12 laps in the pool. And everywhere I go I either walk or bike. Hoping to get a good condition and loose a little bit of weight like every woman wants.
In the afternoon we have visited our friends Hans and Pannida. He is a Dutch man married to a Thai wife. In the evening I went out to get some Pad Thai or fried noodles for 50 Baht.
Today we went shopping. Not for pleasure or for souvenirs but for furniture. Furniture we need for decoration of Studio 74. We already have bought a nice garden set for the balcony.
For dinner we went to another seafood restaurant, Meekarun. Also wheelchair accessible but with a steep access ramp. We had fried rice with crab meat, deep fried red snapper and papaya salad, soda water and diet coke. More expensive then the average Thai meal but very good food.
Later we were having coffee at home.

Arrival in Thailand, January 6, 2010

It has been two days now since we have arrived in our apartment in Hua Hin, Thailand. At the day of our arrival we had a quick diner at a local restaurant and bought a few groceries for the next day. Very tired due to a lack of sleep during the flight we hit the sack at 10 pm. Awake around 4 in the middle of the night our jetlag was kicking in. Electricity was down during this night for a few hours due to a thunderstorm so no aircon to cool our bedroom. After power was restored we fell asleep again and have slept till 11 am.
We started the day with fresh fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee and toast with marmelade for breakfast and afterwards I unpacked our luggage. In the afternoon we went to the Chinese supermarket to buy drinking water, Singha beer, ice coffee, cereal, milk, bread, etc. This supermarket is within a 5 minutes walk of the apartment and wheelchair accessible as our pictures will show you. Afterwards I had a swim to have some excercise and Jan checked our email.
At night we had dinner at Chareon Pochana Seafood, a beach front restaurant with wheelchair access ramp. We ate fish fillet sweet and sour, 3 kinds of fish fillet in chillisaus, both with steamed rice. After dinner we walked around for a bit and had a ice cream at Swensens and Cafe Latte at Starbucks.

Accessible restaurants in Hua Hin, Thailand

Going out to dinner is one of our favourite things to do. One of these restaurants is Little Orchids at the Naresdamri Road. Along this street you will find more wheelchair accessible restaurants. Even a few beach front places with terrific sea food.
