Hua Hin, Sakura Restaurant
During this holiday we have tried several new restaurants. One of them is the restaurant in the picture, Sakura. The owner is an old employee of the Hyatt Regency hotel and he recognized us immediately and was happy to see us. He could remember in that time we were looking for house. Of course he wanted to know if we succeeded. So we told him that we bought a house on Coconut Grove, Soi 102.
After this chat we ordered our food. Jan ordered Salmon Teriyaki and I ordered a Sushi Roll with shrimp. And for drinks two soda water. The waiters brought the food within a reasonable time and both plates together. The food was delicious and fresh made.
The restaurant has a big terrace which is has level access. In case of rain you can sit inside after taking one step. The restaurants does not have a wheelchair accessible restroom.
Sakura on Soi 94 is convenient located between the center of Hua Hin and Soi 102. The distance from our wheelchair accessible pool villa to this restaurant is 1,7km and from our apartment Tira Tiraa for disabled is 2,2km.
So come and join us and we will drive you to this restaurant in our adapted Toyota Commuter.

Accessdisabled, Thailand Trains
Hua Hin train station.
The first time we were in Thailand we have visited Hua Hin Train station and the Royal Waiting Room. And every time we have visitors we show them the station. When you see pictures of Hua Hin you will always see this waiting room. Hua Hin is famous for this sight. Lovely to see. Back in time. And although wheelchair users can access the station the access to the trains is disabled.
We always tell people they have to take a look at the sign which points out where the wheelchair accessible toilet / restroom is. And the western world is debating the correct word for people in wheelchairs, impaired, etc. What is in a name?

Accessible vineyard and wines in Hua Hin
When people think of wine they think of France and the worlds most famous wines. No one is thinking of wines produced and bottled in Hua Hin, Thailand. But since 2003 Hua Hin Hills Vineyard is growing grapes and producing wine near Hua Hin. This vineyard is located 35km west of Hua Hin. After a visit to Wat Huay Mongkol you can drive 16km more west to enjoy a vineyard tour on a elephant, fine Thai tapas and of course their delicious wines. On the terrace of the sala surrounded by vineyards you can spend a laisy afternoon doing nothing. Don't forget to buy some wine to take home.
The restaurant / sala has an access ramp and the terrace is wheelchair accessible. So handicapped people and their travel companions can enjoy this holiday trip together.
The wines are also for sale in their shop on the second floor of Market Village, a big shopping mall in Hua Hin.

Shopping and entertainment
Shopping in Thailand and shopping in Hua Hin is something different. Big shopping malls in Bangkok offer all brands you are looking for. Small shopping centres in Hua Hin are much alike. The only thing Bangkok and Hua Hin have incommon is the food and drink stalls. Eating and drinking is very important to Thai people. It is their way to come together and meet with friends and family. So in shopping malls, big or small, is always a place to meet, eat and drink. And most of the time these shopping malls have entertainment too.
One of these malls is Plearnwan in Hua Hin near the Index. Build by a Thai man whose father is disabled and uses a wheelchair. So with his father in mind he made his shopping mall accessible for wheelchair users. Perfect. Thank you very much. I'm very happy with this initiative. So I made a little movie to show the accessibility of Plearnwan. Take a look here.
